Cosplay

I’ve been creating costumes and participating in cosplay since 2014, combining many of my creative interests into one hobby: sewing, crafting, painting, sculpting, comics, video games and other media. Over the years, cosplay has helped me develop a wide range of skills, including pattern making, prop building, wig styling, basic electronics, and research.

More than that, it has influenced how I approach character design and creative problem-solving. Building costumes and armour has given me a better understanding of how things fit together, function, and translate from a design on a page into a real, wearable object. As a result, I often incorporate a sense of practicality into my own character designs, especially when it comes to clothing, equipment, and armour.

I’ve also had the opportunity to connect with the wider cosplay community, including being invited to conventions as a guest. While I haven’t always documented every project in detail, each costume represents a process of research, experimentation, and learning. Through this project, I hope to share some of that process and highlight the techniques, challenges, and lessons that have shaped one of my greatest creative passions.

Although I haven’t always documented my progress or planning in detail - since it’s been more of a personal hobby - I value the creative process behind every piece. I’d love to share more about how I approach building costumes and the methods I’ve used to bring them to life.
